Preclinical, Imaging & Research Laboratories (PIRL) is a Node of the National Imaging Facility (NIF), a national biomedical imaging infrastructure in Australia.

PIRL is renowned as a state-of-the-art large animal research imaging facility with access to a network of imaging specialists, locally and around Australia.

Some of the equipment at PIRL is listed below:

  • a large animals facility with 3T Siemens Skyra MRI, 16 slice Phillips CT, C arm fluoroscopy, X-Ray equipment, ultrasound, surgical suites
  • a rodent imaging facility with Bruker Albira II PET/SPECT, Bruker 1T Icon MRI, Bruker SkyScan microCT (µCT), IVIS Spectrum optical imaging, Echo MRI, Irradiator
  • a cyclotron
